The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) is a fictional spaceship that appears in the Star Trek media franchise. It is the main setting of the original Star Trek television series (1966–1969) and several films, and it has been depicted in various spinoffs, films, books, comics, and video games. The Enterprise is the flagship of Starfleet, the space exploration and defense force of the United Federation of Planets.

The original design of the Enterprise was created by Matt Jeffries, and the ship was first seen in the pilot episode of Star Trek, "The Cage". The ship's design was based on a combination of a sleek, aerodynamic shape for the saucer section and a cylindrical engineering section. The ship was also equipped with a variety of powerful weapons and technology, such as phasers and photon torpedoes, as well as a deflector shield to protect it from enemy fire.

The Enterprise was commanded by Captain James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner, in the original series, and has been featured in several spinoff series and films. The ship and its crew have been a cultural icon and has become a symbol of science fiction and space exploration.
